Mijn Blackie
"Mijn Blackie" is van de hand van Arne Sierens, het werd geregisseerd door Anouk De Mey en opgevoerd door Theatergroep Vooruit in Deinze.
"Een rauwpoëtische schets van de kleine, scherpe kantjes van het alledaagse leven op een doordeweeks binnenkoertje van een café. Het verschil tussen 'hogere' en 'lagere' klasse tintelt er. En ook de hond heeft er zijn plekje ..." (bron: www.arnesierens.be/mijnblackie.html)
Ook met dit stuk schitterde Vooruit weer zoals we het van hen gewend zijn. Een relatief kleine cast - zeker als we terugdenken aan "Moulin Rouge" - die het beste van zichzelf gaf. Ze lieten het publiek schateren, maar vooral ook uit plaatsvervangende schaamte in hun stoel onderuit zakken.
We kennen namelijk allemaal wel iemand waarin we één of zelfs meer van de personages herkennen. De cafébazin die ieders moeder is. De simpele mannen die nergens een probleem in zien of de vrouwen waarvan de één al beter tegen de alcohol kan dan de ander. Maar één ding hebben ze gemeen: hun relatie tot de andere stamgasten is oppervlakkig, al hebben ze het zelf niet door.
Ik mocht dit weer in beeld brengen en heb dat zoals altijd met heel veel plezier gedaan.

The Christmas Season and Beautiful Dresses
Another season, another fashion shoot
Remember one of my previous blog posts on a fashion shoot I did with Phaedra? It was all about dressing up for winter.
Well, this time she dressed up for the Christmas season, showing two beautiful dresses, and not just any. She got them from Anne Sophie in Sint-Martens-Latem. One relatively simple, but elegant, shiny dress, and a somewhat more chique, black dress. Shorter at the front and long at the back. Black outside, pink inside. I loved it, and so did my camera.
Elegant dresses have to be presented in an elegant setting, so we went to the castle of Zwijnaarde and used its full potential as a classy setting to present these outfits. See for yourself whether you think either of the two dresses would look good on you during the Christmas season.

10 years Still Crazy and a nice surprise
Still Crazy coverband rocking for 10 years
After I had photographically covered Still Crazy earlier this year as a support act to Stan Van Samang, and again during summer, they asked me to also cover the gig they organized for their 10 year anniversary, and sure enough I said yes.
This is a passionate bunch of guys who bring a ginormous amount of rock covers and they will sure take the roof off any place they play. Other than that, they are all just genuinly nice guys.

Support act: Mermaid, and what a surprise!
Before Still Crazy started their long set, Mermaid played three songs. I was so surprised and captivated by them that I almost forgot to take any pictures. They are incredibly talented, mastering their instruments flawlessly. Their style is somewhat Indie-pop/rock. Commercial enough to sell to the public while still retaining enough unique character to distinguish themselves from mainstream hypes. Their singer, the beautiful Lotte, has a voice to perfectly match the music. She is however not just singing. She puts her soul into the performance and the audience will feel it. I loved every bit of it and want to hear more.
The band members are all young and either follow their education in the conservatory or the Rock School in Hasselt, Belgium.

Fashion shoot
Vue meets That's Très Vogue
Fashion shoots. I don't do as many as I would like to do, and every time I shoot fashion, I like it a lot.This particular shoot happened to be in a very cool location, and the collaboration with Phaedra was relaxed, although she turned out to be very perfectionistic. Which is good, because I'm only satisfied with the very best images as well.
That's Très Vogue
So, I met Phaedra. She's a 19 year old journalism student, aspiring photographer and an avid blogger. One day she asked me whether I wanted to do a fashion shoot with her. I had been following her blog and found it to be refreshing. Obviously, she was putting a lot of effort in it. So when I learned she'd be the model, wearing outfits from a trendy shop, I quickly decided to do it. On top of that, I didn't even have to scout for a location, as she had already taken care of that too.

Location
The location was particularly cool. A popup shop, opened by 18 interior stores, in a large city house. You can visit it until December 18, by which date a silent auction will be taking place. You can place a bid for any object you would want to have, and the winning bidder will be able to purchase the item. Part of the revenue will go to SOS Kinderdorpen, an organisation providing aid to children who grow up without the loving care of parents. You will see part of the interior in the gallery.
The shoot itself was professional, well prepared, and I think we may be working together again in the future. Be sure to check the rest of the gallery and read the story on That's Très Vogue.
Theaterfotografie is topsport
Eén goeie manier
Veel fotografen staan achterin de zaal met een grote telelens en halen zo hun karakters dichterbij. Het creëert afstand , en je hebt nooit het idee dat je in het spektakel wordt betrokken.
Mijn manier, en volgens mij de enige die de kijker écht kan boeien, is om als het ware in het theaterspel mee te spelen. Je beweegt mee met de actie en je staat met je neus bovenop de acteurs die op dat moment de aandacht naar zich toetrekken. Breng dat goed in beeld, en de emoties, de lichaamstaal en de kostuums doen de rest.
Hoe doe ik dat vraag je? Ik fotografeer uitsluitend met een 50mm lens. Op een camera met een fullframe sensor welteverstaan. Ik ren tussen de acteurs en figuranten door, ga door mijn knieën, lig op de grond als het moet, en soms met mijn lens maar twintig centimeter van de acteurs vandaan.
Topsport
Dat betekent wel dat je constant loopt, gaat zitten, weer opstaat, gaat liggen, van het podium af, er weer op, naar achter, naar voor, links en rechts. Je moet ook min of meer weten hoe het script in elkaar zit en wat er wanneer gebeurt. Na een avond fotograferen ben je écht moe, als je het goed doet.
Op die manier krijg je als kijker de indruk dat je in het stuk zit. Het wordt heel dynamisch, en de verschillende hoeken van waaruit de foto's worden genomen, geven het publiek achteraf weer een heel andere kijk op het geheel.
De fotograaf is geen buitenstaander
Ik prefereer het om "huisfotograaf" te zijn. De enige fotograaf die alles vastlegt wat een toneelgezelschap doet. Je bouwt een band op met de acteurs en de regisseur op zo'n manier dat je weet hoe de regisseur het stuk bedoeld heeft. Hoe hij hoopt dat het publiek het zal zien. En dat moet je in je fotoreportage weten te vatten. Heb je die band niet, of overleg je niet, dan doe je maar wat en hoop je er het beste van. De voorbereiding is heel belangrijk. De foto's zijn achteraf ook een uitstekende manier voor het hele gezelschap om nog een lange tijd na te genieten. Tenslotte hebben ze er maanden werk in gestopt om er iets van te maken dat herinnerd mag worden. Ik vind dat je dat als fotograaf alle eer moet aandoen. Je moet jezelf een deel van het gezelschap voelen, anders krijg je het niet gedaan. De passie komt altijd in de foto's terug.
Informatie over Vue
Jeroen is gepassioneerd door fotografie, en met name door podiumkunsten. Hij is de huisfotograaf van Theatergroep Vooruit in Deinze. Deze samenwerking begon, toen John Lammertijn, regisseur en acteur bij Vooruit een theaterstuk schreef - Den Trouw dat in 2015 in de prijzen viel: het Landjuweel. Er zou een voorstelling in het NTGent volgen, en dat moest natuurlijk vereeuwigd worden. Jeroen nam de fotografie voor zijn rekening. Het viel in de smaak, en de toon was gezet.
Verder behoren modellenfotografie, kinderen, fashion en straatfotografie (fine art) ook tot zijn specialiteiten.
